A foundation focused on creating awareness about the importance of education especially for the girl child, of curbing social ills such as child marriages, extravagant weddings, dowry system, etc. and on educating and empowering the youth for towards a bright & vibrant future.

Colonel Bainsla was a retired Lt. Colonel of the Indian Army. Extremely well read, with a love for music & great liking for gardening & simple rural life. His wife Late Mrs Resham Bainsla had always been his pillar of strength in his endeavors. From the age of 23, Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla had been in the service of the nation. For 3 decades he served in the Indian Army, fighting wars with Pakistan & China in 1962, 1965 & 1971. Post retirement he had been fighting the war against inequality, illiteracy and social backwardness. His mission was to empower the weak, the neglected and the suppressed by providing equal opportunities.

Youngest son of a British Army soldier, he was born in a remote village of Rajasthan in a region where the occupation of young men is either agriculture or military service and where getting an education was a challenge. After completing primary school in the village, he travelled to Bharatpur & Hindaun to finish his schooling, and then to Maharajas College at Jaipur for his graduation. Money for schooling / college was always a problem, more so if one gets married at the age of 14-15 years.

In the Army, Colonel ensured respect, equality, dignity and equal opportunities for all without any discrimination – which was not bound to be so outside the military, hence he made it his mission to empower the weak, the neglected and the suppressed.

Post retirement from the military he led a peoples movement for “reservation” in Rajasthan. Through his efforts & continuous struggle, 5 communities comprising of approximately 6 million population are now getting benefit of reservation in educational institutions and government services, the children are getting scholarships and admissions in residential schools and colleges. Many schools, colleges and hostels have been opened to bring good education within reach of the backward and deprived population.

Building on a lifetime of Military & Public service, Colonel Bainsla established the Colonel Bainsla Foundation on the simple belief that everyone deserves a fair chance to succeed along with a responsibility to act, and that all will do better if  all work together. The building blocks of a fair chance to succeed are GOOD HEALTH & GOOD EDUCATION and to give a structured shape to this dream the FOUNDATION works tirelessly.

Colonel Bainsla left for his heavenly abode on 31 March 2022 due to a prolonged illness. He was 82 years old. He was cremated with military honors at his home village Mundia on 1 April 2022, with large numbers in attendance. Colonel Bainsla is fondly remembered and deeply missed. Colonel Bainsla Foundation is taking forward his mission and torch in the service of humanity and a better future for our youth.
